This online course is designed to train and certify Illinois Class A and B Underground Storage Tank Operators. This self-paced course allows the student to start and pause the training during its delivery. The course must be completed within 6 months of its start. The course utilizes visual aids and audio commentary to facilitate the efficient and comprehensive learning of the subject matter required to meet Illinois state regulations for a UST Class A or B Operator. At the end of the training, a 30-question exam will be administered. The training course has been approved by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal (OSFM), as a means of gaining Class A and B Operator Certification. A Class C operator is an employee and is, generally, the first line of response to events indicating emergency conditions. This individual is responsible for responding to alarms or other indications of emergencies caused by spills or releases from UST systems. This individual notifies the Class B or Class A operator and appropriate emergency responders when necessary. Not all employees of the facility are necessarily Class C operators. This individual typically and at a minimum must be trained to: Control or monitor the dispensing or sale of regulated substances, and Take action as the initial response to emergencies: Situations posing an immediate danger or threat to the public or to the environment and that require immediate action. Alarms caused by spills or releases from a UST system. Course Description This course provides the Class C UST Operator an overview of the training needed to respond to emergency conditions at underground storage tank (UST) facilities. Our Class C Operator Course and Certification provides training on the following: Introduction to a generic UST facility including the major fuel system components and emergency equipment The roles and responsibilities of the Class A, B and C Operators. Site-specific emergency procedures development Emergency contact procedures Safety awareness for employees and customers Overfill prevention Monitoring of the UST facility Fire safety and introduction to fire extinguishers Alarm panel recognition and response procedures Fuel spill containment and cleanup At the end of the course, a 10 question exam is administered and you will be required to answer 8 out of 10 questions correctly to be certified. State of Ohio Requirements Per Ohio State Regulations, the Class A and Class B UST Operator Training Certificates must be separate certificates. In order to accomplish this, this course contains 2 parts. The first part is the course with an exam. Once passed you will receive your Class A UST Operator Certificate. The second part of the course is a survey. The survey must be completed in order to receive your separate Class B UST Operator Certificate.  Course Description This course is designed to prepare prospective Class A and B Underground Storage Tank Operators to take the State of Ohio Class A and B Operator Evaluation at the end of the course. The course utilizes visual aids and instructor-led videos to facilitate the efficient and comprehensive learning of the subject matter required to meet the regulations for an Ohio UST Class A or B Operator. The training and certification course has been approved by the Bureau of Underground Storage Tank Regulations (BUSTR), Division of State Fire Marshall, State of Ohio Department of Commerce, for becoming certified as a Class A and Class B UST Operator in Ohio. Learning Objectives The overall objective is to educate the prospective Class A or B operator on the State of Ohio and USEPA Federal Regulations governing the operation of underground storage tanks. The training is specific to the state’s regulations and will consist of several lessons. At the end of the training, with successful completion of the 20 question evaluation, students will receive their Certificate of Completion. Topics Covered The following topics are covered in this course: Class A, B and C Operator roles, and responsibilities Overview of UST systems UST operator requirements Release detection Record keeping Release reporting, confirmation, and corrective action Testing There is a 20-question evaluation at the end of the training. All Class A/B UST Operators must take a new, TCEQ-approved course by the end of 2019.  This new and improved TFFA Course has been approved by the TCEQ, and every effort has been made to ensure the 2.5 hours is the most efficient use of your time. Learning Objectives The training is specific to the TCEQ’s regulations for Texas and will consist of 7 lessons. At the end of the training, with successful completion, students will be able to immediately print their TFFA Certificate of Completion.
